FAMU’s Professor Mandip Sachdeva Honored with Prestigious AAPS Global Leader Award
San Antonio, TX — November 2025 Florida A&M University’s College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health (CoPPS, IPH) proudly celebrates Professor Mandip Singh Sachdeva, Ph.D., who has been awarded the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) Global Leader Award at the annual PharmSci 360 Meeting.
This distinguished honor recognizes Professor Sachdeva’s decades of pioneering research in pharmaceutics, drug delivery, and pharmaceutical technology, as well as his commitment to mentorship and global collaboration. The award underscores his role as a visionary leader whose work has advanced both science and society.
A Legacy of Innovation and Mentorship
Professor Sachdeva, Section Leader of Pharmaceutics at FAMU CoPPS, IPH, has long been a champion of innovative drug delivery systems and equitable access to pharmaceutical sciences. His laboratory has produced groundbreaking research while fostering a culture of excellence among students and postdoctoral fellows. Many of his mentees have themselves earned recognition at national and international conferences.
In his remarks leading up to the award, Professor Sachdeva emphasized that this recognition is not solely his own, but a reflection of the collective creativity, persistence, and collaboration of his students, colleagues, and partners. “This recognition reflects the collective effort of my students, postdocs, and colleagues at FAMU, whose commitment, creativity, and collaboration have made our research and outreach possible,” he noted.

The AAPS Global Leader Award celebrates scientists who extend their influence beyond the bench to global health, education, and advocacy. Casey Derderian, PharmD (pictured) is the 2025-26 Community Pharmacy PGY-1 resident with Walgreens - FAMU CoPPS, IPH | Northeast Florida Pharmacy Practice Center (NFPPC). Originally from Smithfield, Rhode Island, Dr. Derderian earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Rhode Island in 2025.
FAMU CoPPS, IPH has three learners, Taneria Austin, Alexis Haynes, and Camille Reed, who traveled all day Saturday and Sunday to Kisumu, Kenya, East Africa with Dr. Scarlet Holcombe, President, Director with Medical Mission Teams, Inc. in Florida.
