The pre-pharmacy program at FAMU is an intense two-year undergraduate education that
includes courses in life sciences, mathematics, and social sciences. The program,
designed by the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public
Health, is an adept foundation for the rigorous PharmD professional degree or the
optional Pharmaceutical Sciences bachelor’s degree program. This plan of study is
specifically designed for learners preparing to apply for admission to the Doctor
of Pharmacy (PharmD) program. Please note that admission into and completion of the
Pre-Pharmacy program does not guarantee admission into the College of Pharmacy’s four-year
Learners in the pre-pharmacy program have:
- Year-round access to pre-pharmacy advisors for academic guidance.
- A head start on building a personal network of pharmacists, researchers, and other
Pre-pharmacy learners begin to prepare for the PharmD admissions process with a series
of resume, interview and professionalism workshops. The application process begins
between the freshmen and sophomore years.
If you are accepted into the pre-pharmacy program, you will be assigned a pre-pharmacy
advisor who will prepare you for your transition into the Florida A&M University and
the College of Pharmacy. After you begin taking classes, your advisor will meet with
you prior to each semester to review your progress, discuss your options, and help
you plan your next steps for the College of Pharmacy.
