Office of the Dean

A Message From The Interim Dean

Dear Learners, Faculty, Staff, Alumni, Friends and Supporters of the College,

As you may be aware, Dr. Johnnie L Early recently resigned as the CEO Dean of our esteemed Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health (CoPPS, IPH). Dr. Early has served the FAMU CoPPS, IPH as the CEO Dean for the last six years and we are very grateful for his service and dedication to the CoPPS, IPH. He will continue to head our accreditation activities moving forward.

I am honored to serve our distinguished institution through this transitional period, for the third time even. FAMU’s rich legacy of excellence in education, research, and community engagement continues to thrive, thanks to your dedication and unwavering support.

Our mission remains clear: to educate and prepare the next generation of pharmacists, researchers, and public health professionals who will make a profound impact on healthcare locally, nationally, and globally. Our faculty and staff are committed to fostering an environment where academic excellence meets innovation, and where learners are nurtured to become leaders in their fields.

As we look toward the future, we are excited to continue building upon our tradition of producing graduates who are not only knowledgeable, but compassionate in their approach to healthcare. The unique challenges we face today—ranging from health disparities to the ongoing need for innovative pharmaceutical care—present opportunities for growth, collaboration, and impactful research. Together, we will rise to meet these challenges, ensuring that our CoPPS, IPH remains at the forefront of pharmacy and public health education.

I am proud of what we have achieved and am confident in what we will accomplish. Whether you are a current learner, an alumnus, a faculty/staff member, or a community partner, your contributions are invaluable to the continued success of our college. I look forward to working closely with you as we strive for excellence and advance our mission.

Thank you for your continued dedication and support. Together, we will achieve more.

Sincerely,

Seth Y. Ablordeppey, Ph.D.
