Alumni Reunite at the APhA Meeting Hosted by the NPhA

Nashville, Tenn. - Recently, alumni from FAMU's College of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health (CoPPS, IPH) gathered in Nashville, Tennessee, for the 2025 American Pharmacists Association (APhA) reception, hosted by the National Pharmaceutical Association (NPhA). It was a momentous occasion, one where old friends reconnected, new bonds were formed, and the value of connection in the pharmacy community was truly celebrated.

The reception offered a unique opportunity to honor NPhA members for their outstanding service to the pharmacy profession, with several individuals being recognized by the APhA for their contributions. It was also a time to acknowledge those who have or will step into leadership roles within the APhA, marking milestones in their careers and in the advancement of the pharmacy field.

The FAMU CoPPS, IPH has several alumni in the academy from the PharmD, DrPH and Ph.D. programs. What an outstanding legacy indeed.

As alumni mingled, reminisced, and shared stories, the connections forged during their time at FAMU and beyond were evident. The evening served as a reminder of how powerful these bonds are, not just professionally, but personally. For many, it was more than just a reunion—it was a celebration of how far they had come, how much they had learned, and how the relationships they built throughout their careers continue to shape their journeys.

A special shoutout to Dr. Johnnie L. Early II (middle), Fellow NPhA and Honorary Member of the American Association of Health-Systems Pharmacists, for providing the images that captured the essence of this gathering. These photos will not only preserve the memories of the evening but will also serve as a lasting testament to the importance of connection in influencing the future of pharmacy.

It was a night that reminded everyone in attendance that the power of connection is more than just about professional success—it's about building a community, supporting one another, and continuing to grow together.
