Karam F. A. Soliman, Ph.D., is the RCMI Principal Investigator and the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies. He is also a Distinguished Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health. As Principal Investigator, Dr. Soliman directs and reports the progress of the RCMI program directly to the University President and the funding agency. He serves as the liaison between the National Institute of Health and the RCMI program. Dr. Soliman is responsible for daily operations, organization, and planning of the administrative and research, research-related efforts, and continual development and implementation of the strategic goals and objectives of the RCMI program. He is also responsible for the effective management and implementation of the RCMI program by coordinating and managing the program consistent with the overall institutional plans for strengthening biomedical sciences research capabilities. Dr. Soliman works closely with the external advisory committee and internal advisory committee members, external evaluators, core leaders, faculty researchers, pilot project investigators, research participants, and staff to develop the RCMI program.
