Jacksonville, FL – A well-earned promotion has come to Tonya S. Martin, PharmD, BCGP, MAEd, Associate Professor, Pharmacy Practice on the Northeast Florida Campus of the FAMU CoPPS, IPH (Jacksonville, FL). The announcement came from the pen of CEO Dean and Professor, Johnnie L. Early, II, PhD, RPh, Fellow NPhA and is already effective. “It is with immense regard for your abilities and effective work that this appointment is made.” emphasized Dean Early. She is now Associate Dean for Academic Excellence and Development.

In her previous role as Assistant Dean for Curriculum and Instructional Development, she was instrumental in coordinating the Accreditation Council on Pharmacy Education (ACPE) process, ensuring compliance with standards, and leading faculty development through workshops and training sessions. The preparatory processes for both self-study submissions to the ACPE were exemplary. Her role as a liaison between the Curriculum and Assessment Committees and administration has been vital in maintaining excellence in the PharmD 17 curriculum. In her new role, Dr. Martin will provide strategic leadership to help promote programmatic academic excellence. Responsibilities will expand to include overseeing the PharmD program’s accreditation processes, representing the program in accreditation matters, and ensuring compliance with standards; each assignment is continuous. Reporting obligations to ACPE are constant.

Additionally, she will oversee the development and implementation of policies and initiatives aimed at augmenting and developing teaching and learning outcomes. Collaborating closely with the Curriculum and Assessment Committees, she is to work to develop and implement the best approaches to curriculum design and delivery, with recommendations for evaluations and improvements.

Additionally, engagement in collaborative partnerships with external stakeholders and partners from the academy will further enhance the College’s academic programs and resources, ergo, yielding desired results of learner exam outcomes, licensure, placement, etc.
“Refereed, indexed publications and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) poster/abstracts are a requirement of her new post and are ideal. However, the breadth of her interests may cause scholarly works to appear in additional cognate organizations and journals.” concluded Dean Early.

She is on a steady track for full professorship.
