FAMU/BMS Welcomes the 2021 Resident Cohort

Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Science, Institute of Public Health (FAMU CoPPS, IPH), welcomes two new residents.  Nabil Sukar, PharmD, from Lawton, Oklahoma, and Candice Arline, PharmD from Donalsonville, Georgia, will be furthering their postgraduate pharmacy training with the FAMU/Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) partnership. 

This pharmaceutical industry residency program was founded in 2009 as a partnership between FAMU and Bristol-Myers Squibb. The vision of the residency is to attract and develop a diverse group of talented pharmacists who bring clinical expertise, innovative ideas, and dedication to improving patient outcomes. The program provides a two-year residency in the therapeutic area of oncology. This residency will provide the residents with a unique experience that bridges the gap between clinical practice and the pharmaceutical industry.

Meet Nabil Sukar, PharmD:

Dr. Nabil Sukar, from Lawton, Oklahoma, is a first-year resident with the FAMU/BMS Residency Program. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy.

Dr. Sukar is impassioned to help patients overcome the burden of a cancer diagnosis through robust clinical experiences before he transitions into the industry.

In his free time, Dr. Sukar stays active by playing sports and working out. He also enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, cooking, and volunteering at health fairs.

Meet Candice Arline, PharmD:

Dr. Candice Arline, from Donalsonville, Georgia, is a first-year resident with the FAMU/BMS Residency Program. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Mercer University College of Pharmacy.

Currently, Dr. Arline is an adjunct professor in the College, and she is teaching courses in oncology and hematology. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to inspire the next generation of pharmacy leaders in the classroom.

In her spare time, Dr. Arline enjoys traveling, singing, dancing, trying and cooking new foods, working out at home or the gym, mentoring, and serving her hometown community through the launch of her non-profit organization, The Healing, and Wellness Initiative.
