Two are better than one: FAMU CoPPS, IPH & Bristol Myers Squibb continue Impactful Residency Partnership

Davie/Miami, Fla. – The Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health (CoPPS, IPH) and Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) reach another year of collaboration and partnership with the 2026 – 2028 FAMU-BMS Residency at the CoPPS, IPH’s South Florida Pharmacy Practice Center.

“The FAMU CoPPS, IPH and the BMS Pharma welcome Dr. Denise Fiesta to the 2026 – 2028 cohort.  The selection was based on her outstanding performance during the interview process, and I am thrilled to announce the arrival of our new resident, the result of a thorough recruitment process. She started the program on June 1, 2026,” enthusiastically wrote Nathan Eraikhuemen, PharmD, Division Director & Professor, FAMU CoPPS, IPH | South Florida and Director, FAMU CoPPS, IPH-BMS Pharmaceutical Residency.

According to Dr. Eraikhuemen, Denise Fiesta earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from Chicago State University in May 2026. Prior to that, she earned a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. She has held multiple leadership roles throughout pharmacy school, including Class President and ISHP Chapter President, and has been actively involved in research, tutoring, and student engagement. Her professional interests include medical affairs, oncology, and drug development, shaped by her medical affairs rotation at Astellas and oncology experience at Cook County Health. Dr. Fiesta looks forward to further developing her skills in medical strategy, clinical research, and teaching through the FAMU CoPPS, IPH-BMS Residency Program, now in its 17th year since 2009.

Interim Dean and Professor, FAMU CoPPS, IPH, Dr. Seth Y.
