Dr. Moran Received 2024 National Legacy Award

Omaha, NE — James L. Moran, Jr., PhD, Director, Alumni Engagement in the Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health (CoPPS, IPH) has been a member of the Florida Capital Chapter of the Society of Government Meeting Professionals sgmpfl.org since 2009. During the past 15 years, he has served as Chapter President, a member of the Board of Directors, and on the national stage as a member of the Finance Committee just before COVID-19 happened. 

Since becoming a member, he has been a steady force for the chapter by recruiting new members, presenting one of the nine core competencies Society of Government Meeting Professionals: Core Competency Education (sgmp.org) annually as an instructor, and identifying subject matter experts from all walks of life to educate the membership on topics relevant to the association. Because of his tireless efforts, Dr. Moran was nominated and received the coveted 2024 National Legacy Award for his proven leadership skills and dedication to the betterment and sustainability of SGMP at the National Education Conference NEC (sgmp.org) held in Omaha, Nebraska, May 7-9, 2024. NEC is an annual event featuring over 20 hours of professional development sessions, exciting keynote speakers, an industry tradeshow, networking opportunities, a fundraising silent auction, and more! 

“The work that I do with the chapter is rewarding in several ways because I’ve seen the growth of the chapter and appreciate the caliber of its members,” said Moran. “I am humbled to be recognized for such an honor.”
