The FAMU Student Society of Healthcare System Pharmacists (SSHP) hosted its 5th annual residency showcase. Students learned about the match process and heard from different residency programs about what they have to offer and what their specific programs require for applicants.
Guest speakers included various practitioners and current residents from all over the country, including FAMU Bristol Meyers Squibb PGY-1 residents, Dr. Raena Rhone, Dr. Franco Dickson, PGY-1 resident at FAMU College of Pharmacy and Apalachee Center Inc., Dr. Amy Renaud.
FAMU SSHP President, Danielle Harvey, said the event is essential because “It helps expose students to different options as it pertains to residencies as well as steps to attaining a residency upon graduation. While our curriculum covers the topic of residencies in a general aspect, this event allowed up close and personal access to residency programs for students to be able to ask questions and help gain direct insight to be able to tailor their paths”.
This November 2020 event was held virtually via Zoom.
