I consider myself a public health toxicologist specializing in environmental health. Since 2008 I have taught Perspectives in Environmental and Occupational Health, Environmental Toxicology, Environmental Epidemiology, Occupational Disease and Public Health Practice II and III. I have been an advisor on 15 public health masters projects at FAMU, Institute of Public Health leading to successful graduation. I have basic science interest in mercury neurotoxicity as a co-investigator in Research Center Minority Institutions in the Neurodegeneration Core. In addition, I also have research interest in environmental health, pesticide exposure, occupational toxicology and chemical preparedness. I am a co-investigator on an Institute of Public Health Grant concerning a hazardous waste site entitled “Jacksonville Racial and Ethnic Environmental Approaches to Community Health” funded by the Agency for Toxic Substances Disease Registry. This grant has developed physician, community leader, resident training and outreach with additional research projects involving contaminant modeling and environmental tracking.
