Pre-Pharmacy Program

A first-time in college applicant is required to possess a diploma from a public or regionally accredited high school. Students applying for admission must submit test scores from the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) of the College Entrance Examination Board or from the American College Testing (ACT) program. Admission to the Pre-Pharmacy program is completed by the Florida A&M University Office of Admissions in conjunction with the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Office of Student Services.

A high school graduate interested in pre-pharmacy should apply for admission indicating that interest through the Florida A&M University Office of Admissions. A copy of the student's application materials, including high school and/or college transcripts, is sent to the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Office of Student Services to determine admission eligibility. High school students can apply at the beginning of their senior year through May 1st for admission to fall semester following graduation. Early application is encouraged. A minimum of eighteen units of high school work in the following areas are required: English, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Social Sciences.

All students applying for admission to the College of Pharmacy must be approved by the College. The recommended high school backgrounds for students planning to enter the pre-pharmacy program are:

  • A minimum academic grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale) in the core academic subjects at the secondary school level.
  • Four units of high school level math with a minimum 2.75 GPA in the following course equivalents:
    • Algebra
    • Calculus
    • Geometry
    • Trigonometry
  • Three units of high school level science with a minimum 2.75 GPA in the following course equivalents:
    • Biological Sciences
    • Physical Science
    • Chemistry
    • Physics
    • Anatomy and Physiology
  • At least a 1010 on the SAT or 21 on the ACT.
