ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE PHARMACY (ESAP)

Master of Science Program

The Economic, Social and Administrative Pharmacy (ESAP) program offers specialty in Pharmacoeconomics, the science which applies economics and humanistic approaches to studying the costs, outcomes, and consequences of medication uses. Graduates of the ESAP Program will play a dynamic role on shaping the direction of pharmacy and healthcare due to their contributions in academia, industry, community and institutional pharmacy management, and government.

Admission Requirements:
  • 3.00 grade point average (GPA) in the last sixty (60) semester hours or 1000 combined score on the GRE (verbal and quantitative)
  • International students must obtain a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score prior to admission
  • Three letters of recommendation
Specialization in Pharmacoeconomics - 30 semester hours

Prerequisite, core and specialty course requirements for the master’s program are summarized below. In addition to these courses, students are expected to attend and participate in a weekly seminar (PHA 6938) in the fall and spring semester. The seminar will serve a dual role of journal club as well as and a forum to brainstorm research ideas. The seminar aims to teach students how to present their ideas, to facilitate exchange of ideas among faculty and students, and to support both faculty and graduate students research. Each academic year, every student will present a seminar as well as lead discussion in the journal club session.

Prerequisites: ECO 2023 Microeconomics
  STA 2023 Statistics or Equivalent


The MS Program in ESAP requires each student to conduct a thesis project. Minimum credit hours for the master's curriculum are 26 hours for course work, 22 hours for thesis research.
