The pre-pharmacy program at FAMU is an intense two-year undergraduate education that includes courses in life sciences, mathematics, and social sciences. The program, designed by the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health, is an adept foundation for the rigorous PharmD professional degree or the optional Pharmaceutical Sciences bachelor’s degree program. This plan of study is specifically designed for learners preparing to apply for admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program. Please note that admission into and completion of the Pre-Pharmacy program does not guarantee admission into the College of Pharmacy’s four-year PharmD program.

Learners in the pre-pharmacy program have:

  • Year-round access to pre-pharmacy advisors for academic guidance.
  • A head start on building a personal network of pharmacists, researchers, and other professionals.

Pre-pharmacy learners begin to prepare for the PharmD admissions process with a series of resume, interview and professionalism workshops. The application process begins between the freshmen and sophomore years.

If you are accepted into the pre-pharmacy program, you will be assigned a pre-pharmacy advisor who will prepare you for your transition into the Florida A&M University and the College of Pharmacy. After you begin taking classes, your advisor will meet with you prior to each semester to review your progress, discuss your options, and help you plan your next steps for the College of Pharmacy.
