The primary mission of the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, in concert with Florida A&M University, is to prepare students for life-long learning and careers in an evolving profession of pharmacy. The College reinforces its mission through an active role and responsibility in the delivery, outcome, and study of pharmaceutical care services it shares with other healthcare providers. The College is committed to the advancement of pharmaceutical knowledge through teaching, research, and service in a supportive and caring environment that enhances the attainment of educational excellence and the highest standards in professional and ethical practice. The College inculcates cultural sensitivity and diversity through its faculty, student body, and patient care.

To fulfill the mission of the Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the goals of the College are set forth as the following:
Prepare pharmacy graduates with the attitudes, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to become highly qualified pharmacists. These graduates will work with patients and other health care providers to screen for, prevent, and resolve medication-related problems, as well as provide health promotion, disease prevention and disease- management services.
Outcome Statements: Students shall be able to:
Communicate verbally and in writing with patients, caregivers and other health care practitioners.
Participate in drug-use decision-making process assisting patients and health care professionals in the establishment of therapeutic and diagnostic outcomes.
Demonstrate knowledge of the drug-use process by counseling patients and advising other health care professionals.
Make clinical decisions to identify and solve drug-related problems in a logical and coherent manner.
Plan, organize, direct and control pharmaceutical care systems and resources.
Integrate ideas, information and skills to provide optimum pharmaceutical care.
Provide high quality pharmaceutical care utilizing ethical and moral standards.
Demonstrate the ability to continually update their knowledge base as changes in pharmaceutical care occur.
Produce pharmaceutical scientists, who through teaching, research and service, contribute to the body of pharmaceutical knowledge. Outcome Statements: Graduates shall be able to:
Conceive, design, conduct and interpret independent research.
Provide pharmaceutical education at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Compete successfully for extramural funding.
Publish research findings in refereed indexed national and international scientific periodicals.
Articulate, communicate and present research findings at local, national and international scientific meetings.
Promote pharmaceutical research and knowledge generation through the acquisition of extramural funding and published research data. Outcome Statements: Faculty shall:
Conduct basic sciences, clinical and outcome research to address health care problems especially among minority and disadvantaged communities.
Participate in postdoctoral, fellowships, and residency training.
Compete successfully for mainstream extramural funding.
Maintain an annual average of two publications per faculty member in refereed indexed national and international scientific periodicals.
Articulate, communicate and present research findings at national and international meetings.
Build and nurture an environment, which satisfies work, career opportunities and professional growth for faculty, and staff. Outcome Statements: Faculty and staff shall:
Participate in professional meetings to stay current in their area of specialization.
Develop a shared vision for achieving the mission of the College.
Provide a mentorship program that enhances the skills and abilities of colleagues.
Have access to adequate resources to build and nurture a fun, high-energy team that rewards creative actions and realizes individual aspirations.
Provide programs, resources, and services to our patients and the community. Outcome Statements: Faculty as a whole shall:
Offer six C.E. programs annually.
Participate in the development of health care policy at the local, state, and national level.
Participate in health promotion and disease prevention programs in the community.
Serve as a resource to the community on health care issues.
Participate in College and University governance.
Provide clinical services to health care practitioners.

Critical Thinking: Graduating seniors will demonstrate the ability to critically think, analyze, and solve problems to make judgment and pharmacy decisions.

Ethics: All graduate students will abide by the NIH Guidelines for the Conduct of Research. The Guidelines set forth general principles for good and ethical science as practices in the Intramural Research Program at the NIH and are designed to safeguard the integrity of the scientific research process.
